Nilay Patel joined the RMS community in 2015 as the boy's head basketball coach. Prior to that, he coached at several public and private schools in the Richmond area. Nilay graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Social Work and Psychology. After eight years in the social work field, he changed his career and entered the recreation and sports field full time in 2017. He believes that having a background in both social work and athletics allows him to develop strong relationships that can impact student athletes for a long time, both on and off the court. He enjoys playing sports and traveling, spending time with his family, and lives by a simple phrase – Be nice, work hard, and have some fun.
